This will be my first official year with the River Sirens. The River Sirens were kind enough to mentor new members of a dragon boat team called the Rebel Rowers and we were invited to join in on their practices where we received 1st rate quality coaching from Maureen.  I fell in love with paddling thru that experience and I am excited to be a part of this team of dedicated persons to the sport.

Dragon boating has given me the opportunity to push myself and be a part of a community of dedicated, strong women. Having worked with cancer patients at Cooper has given a greater meaning for me to be a member of  The River Sirens, and to honor the men and women I have cared for.

Dragon boating is where I challenge myself to do my best. I push myself to my physical and emotional limit with every stroke, practice and race. Afterwards, I feel immense satisfaction for myself and for my team.Dragon boating is where I challenge myself to do my best. Dragonboating for me is a journey self-discovery. Learning not only how far I can push myself, but also how to work in synchronicity with my teammates.  #innerdragon #teamworkworks

It took courage that very first day to try dragon boating.  That initial courage has given me all the benefits of belonging to a truly dynamic team.  Every time I get on the water, I am grateful for the camaraderie and increased confidence that being part of this determined team has given. Thanks River Sirens!

Dragon boating has been a wonderful accompaniment to my life. It has provided me with fitness alongside a group of like-minded women who want to give back to the community. It is something I am proud to be a part of.

"I think I joined the team in 2013. I came in response to a flyer at Royal Fitness gym. I wanted to improve my fitness level and also become part of a team. I enjoy our practices,..even the grueling ones and race days are big on adrenaline. Paddling is the first team sport I have done in my life and its been very rewarding."

Dragon boating is the place where I can be on the water with other like minded women whose goals are to stay healthy and have fun!  They are women who said "yes" to a new adventure in their life!

Dragon Boat, specifically with the River Sirens has provided me with a close and far reaching community of like minded ladies who share a sense of community, along with a mighty spirit of competition. I joined the team in the 2010 season, and was hooked immediately. I'm 56 years old,and in the best physical condition ever, thanks to our rigorous training.
